Marion Senior Activities at Lowe Park

The Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center is home to FREE senior activities on a daily basis during the week. These
programs are provided and coordinated as part of the Witwer Healthy Aging Program by Aging Services.
These programs and activities are geared towards adults ages 55 and up. For more information on these programs or other sites, please contact Jo Ellen Haddad at Aging Services at 398-3644. You can also contact the Parks and Recreation office at Lowe Park at 447-3590. If Linn-Mar Schools cancel due to inclement weather, all senior activities scheduled at Lowe are canceled.
Encore Cafe` at Lowe Park and Marion Library
The Heritage Area Agency on Aging, in partnership with the Marion Public Library and Marion Parks and Recreation Department, is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Encore Café in Marion.
Encore Café is intended for seniors ages 60 and above. The new and innovative café will feature a choice menu
with meals ranging from turkey and mashed potatoes to pasta and tacos, all catered by Marion Hy-Vee. The Encore Café is a one-stop shop for nutrition, health education and socialization time with friends for a suggested voluntary contribution of $5.

Encore Café is open for business at two convenient Marion locations:
- Marion Public Library – Mondays and Fridays at noon
- Lowe Park (with a full salad bar) - Wednesdays and Thursdays at noon
In addition to the meals being offered, educational and health-related programming will also be expanded following mealtimes.
Weekly Activities at Lowe Park
BINGO— Group meets and plays every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Sunburst Room at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center.
Pinochle— Group meets and plays every Friday at 9:00 a.m. in the Sunburst Room at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center.
500— Group meets and plays every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. in the Sunburst Room at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center.
Blood Pressure Clinics— Held the second Wednesday of the month at 11:15 a.m. in the Sunburst Room at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center.
Line Dancing— Get up and get moving with some line dancing. Meets every Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Oaks Room at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center.
Monday “Live Music” Dance— Listen and/or dance to live music from various bands. Meets every Monday beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the Oaks Room at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center.
Fresh Conversations— This fun nutrition program is designed to promote better eating and physical activity. Held the 3rd Thursday of the month at 11:15 a.m. in Sunburst Room at the Lowe Park Arts.
Programs offered by Marion Public Library
The Marion Public Library is available to all, seven days a week (with the exception of holidays). Library cards are always free and offer additional access to some resources. Subscribe to the library's newsletters to keep up with events and programs available for all interests. The most popular books, movies and music are offered in a variety of formats.
